Reflect on the Past Speeches

Reflecting on the past experience, I have both strength and weakness in the public speaking. First, the strength of my speaking is organization. I can able to explain my points in a very organized way for the audience to understand. Bad organization can make the audience confused through listening to the speaker, but good organization creates a flow within the speaking which helps the listener to take track. The other strength I have is voice, I have a strong and clear voice to make a speech very clear. Loud and clear voice is a very good advantage to appeal the audience. People have difficulties when they cannot listen things carefully, cannot focus on what the listener says. Speakers must able to send their message clearly so listeners can follow. Loud and clear voice in English, make audience to focus on my speak for the entire presentation.

However, people do not only have only strength but also weakness. I have a weakness in the fluency on the speech. I usually make hmm or a... during the speeches which distracts the audience. While making a speech, these pauses are seen as “bad” breaking the mood and fluency in the speech. I want to fix these problems, by having stronger confidence and memorization on my speech. People hesitate and make pauses because they lose the pace on speaking their lines. To avoid this, I have to practice until these pauses cannot be made. The other weakness is eye contact. Eye contact is a way to make connection with the audience. Bad eye contact is seen as “lack” of speech, reading the script that makes the audience displeasing. However, these problem can be fix by severe memorization and practice. Similar to fluency, I have to practice on focus on the audience not on individual paper. When these problems are fixed, professional speeches can be made with good influence on the audience and increase self-confidence on the stage.

The changes in Technologies

People are animals where they wanted to become more "efficient" through the process, desiring for greater advance and connivance. In the past, cell phones were recognized as "public usage," however, the time and technology make "shifts" in phones, changing phones into mobile usages that everybody can put their phones in their pocket. The changes in technologies not always become successful, many technologies were forbidden (lost technology) and forgotten. The changes in technologies in the phone do not simply change cellphones into a smartphone but also changed the human's life and society. To this extent, (thesis) the shift in technology in "phones" was able to change sophisticatedly in human history, by becoming more progressive through communication and engagement on the Internet all around the world.

In my Essay, I will discuss how the changes in cell phones to Smartphone extremely impact the society of human. From this point, I will mention things how communication transfer much faster than before, using the example of "the internet" and "Game industry." Media is a source where people can receive information in the society, and people were able to engage these media through the internet (through internet news, articles, etc.), which smartphones were able to expand the possibility to touch the internet frequently. This concludes the points that people are becoming more communicative and familiar with the situation of the society, making people into "digital citizen." Plus, it also opened the mind of people that games can be synchronized with phones that changed the ideological view of "phones" where it usually focused on texting and calling. However, I will mention the counter-arguments that the reliability of smartphone is becoming too big which changed the people's life negatively, using the fact that with-out smartphones people feel uncomfortable in business, school, and with relationships with others due to fewer devices and communication. This will be explained by comparing the cell phone (old) and smartphone (new), showing the shift in people's daily life and how it negatively followed (relying too much on technology).

In the end, I am going to round up that shift of technology (phones) is indeed a positive movement, changing people ideology of understanding technology in phones. Shift makes the new society, and new norms that smartphone and the human became one, but also reminds the positive changes can make different adjustments referred as negative.

Shift in Paradigm Technological? Ideological?

A paradigm shift can be happened in many ways. The paradigm shift can be happened Ideally, technology or the way people behave. The major reason shift happens because people think it is more logical and suitable in the society than before. People are rational animals, even through they do not always produce rationally they think and hope the most effective way to in act.

One of the examples can be the Suit. The history of suits are huge and grand, but we can think this simply. Let me give you a question. Why do people wear suits in business or other important time? In the history, people do not wear suits for every business moment. Each country had their style through their culture background. However, the paradigm shift occurs when people started to change their idea through revolution or enlightenment. The industrial revolution happened in an early 18th century, the changes of politics and the way how commoner behave change minds of the people. The artistic and sartorial revolution during the 19th century sharply changed the mind of simpler clothing is better than formal jeweled clothing. These type of shift can be called as “ideology shift” that people started to believe that clean and simple clothes looked more mature and elegant.

Another example can be Iphone. Before the iPhone came out in 2007, many people were listening to Mp3 for their music. Iriver were one of the major potential company who control the mp3, but as Steve Job introduced the iPhone, Mp3 were no longer used. People changed their taste and trend because it is more “comfortable”. Human relies on tools since the beginning of the civilization, and more convenient tool equals more effective tools. iPhone was able to function as internet, music, and other features that surpass the functionality of old Mp3 players. These type of situation is called, "technological shift". The paradigm of using certain technology was shifted to other due to the better creativity and innovation compared to the old technology. We also can see this aspect on the technological shift in weapons from bow to the gun because it is more convenient and effective to kill others.
