RCL: Whats are some ideas for Passion Blog?

My first idea will be about the entertainments in Comics,  Games and Animations from many different cultures. Many countries were able to make entertainments into innovated and creative products to show others.  I am very deeply interested in the world of animation and the history, which I am very passion about. For example, United States of America was able to make the first significant animation movie from Disney, using Mickey Mouse during the 1940s and gave significant impact to the global world that animation industries can have a bright future.  I am also interested in Games such as  Japanese Games that permeate into everyday people's life such as Mario, PlayStation, and others that we all familiar in. Based on my experience from many different cultures’ CGA (Comics, Games, Animation) like USA, Japan, Korea and etc, I am very excited to make deep analyses on many different topics from CGA and write their significances on the time period, ideas and their meaning. Plus, the blog will analyze how these CGA  can give cultural influences, be one of the significant histories of the country and also give a sense of identity to describe the country.

My second idea will be about international relations and global issues. Human History made several horrible events that caused tragedy, losing many people’s lives. However human also made appeasement and agreements to bring peace for bright future. I love history and global politics that I am also major in international relations(political science). To this reason, I am very passionate about how certain civilizations created causes and effects that led to devastating events or brought diplomatic agreements that alleviate hatred or avoid downfall for many different countries. The blog will significantly analyze the causes and effects of certain events from the past and present. Furthermore, it will explain detail information about the critical reasons why these certain events  occurred (whether is inevitable or not) and how these events impacted on the human society.

  1. You obviously have a clear vision for how your blog could develop, and I think that there is plenty of material to make both incredibly interesting. One of MY options is actually very similar to your international relations topic. But something that Mrs Kramer reminded me of, and something you should keep in mind as you choose your topic is that these passion blogs are meant to be much more personal and reflective of your character than the RCL blog. If you can manage to maintain a personal standpoint from the international topic, go ahead, but it seems like the first topic is much more of a "passion" of yours.

  2. Hi Allan, I really like your first idea because I think it will encourage people to look outside their own culture. It's interesting that you mentioned the connection between the products our society makes (e.g. the Mickey Mouse movie) and how the world sees us. I think your experience traversing different cultures will make the topic that much more personal and interesting for us to read.

As a video game aficionado, I would love to see you write about entertainment! There is a lot to learn from video games and the entertainment industry. The virtual world has so many important effects on our society that you could focus on. I truly look forward to seeing what you come up with!

  4. Hi Allan! Being half Japanese, I can't say I am not biased in my recommendation for the first idea. In all seriousness, I think your excitement will not only make it easier for you to write, but also for us to enjoy. Proving the value of something so frequently criticized is certainly worth doing. Good luck and I look forward to your posts!

  5. Allan, after reading the comments from your peers, it seems like they're slightly in favor of your first topic approach (entertainment, gaming, etc.) Either way, both topics seem to be of great interest to you, so I sense you'll be on a good path with either route.

If you're on the fence, it's always useful to lean toward what would interest your audience more. We clearly want the topic to be something that *we're* passionate about, but we're also writing it for an audience -- not just ourselves.

    Good luck choosing!

  6. I love the background of this page! I could tell you took time crafting your blog design, and your hard work has been shown Now, as in for the material, self interest is important, but at the same time, other people are reading your blog! But besides that, strong start!
